Ketamine Infusion Therapy

About Ketamine Infusion Therapy

The National Institute of Health states: Recent data suggests that Ketamine given intravenously, may be the most important breakthrough  in antidepressant treatment in decades.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has Ketamine listed as an Essential Medicine to the planet since 1985.

In general, the process of initial treatment is six treatments given over 2-3 weeks using low, sub-anesthetic doses. Dose may be adjusted after the first and subsequent infusions. All infusions take place in a soothing, calm,  quiet space with dimmed/darkened lights and a comfortable recliner.  They are medically supervised with vital signs continuously monitored. We also use headphones and specialized music to optimize the experience. Each infusion takes 45-60 minutes. All clients must have a driver to take them home from each infusion and are to refrain from driving for 12 hours.

Ketamine promotes the creation of new, healthy neural connections involved in mood, thought patterns and cognition.

Ketamine targets different subsets of neurotransmitters in the brain than conventional SSRIs and SNRIs.  When other oral medications have not worked in the past, Ketamine may be a better choice.

Ketamine has an 80% success rate and a rapid onset of antidepressant effect, so many feel significantly better in a short amount of time.
